Palo Santo Sacred Wood / Incense
Clearing • Protection • Sacred Ritual • Grounded Presence
Palo Santo, meaning “Holy Wood,” has been used for centuries in spiritual and healing traditions throughout South America. I began working with Palo Santo over 25 years ago while studying with indigenous healers in Peru, and it has remained a trusted part of my personal and ceremonial practice ever since. Each stick is approximately 4" long and naturally aromatic, carrying the warmth and depth of this sacred wood.
When burned, Palo Santo releases a gentle yet powerful sacred smoke known for its ability to clear negative or stagnant energy. It is especially effective for cleansing a home, workspace, or sacred environment, as well as purifying stones and ritual tools. Its energy is grounding rather than sharp, creating a sense of calm, clarity, and spiritual protection.
Palo Santo is often used to maintain energetic boundaries during meditation, prayer, and ceremony. Rather than simply clearing a space once, it helps hold the container — keeping energy clean, centered, and intentional as you move through spiritual or reflective practices.
Working with Palo Santo is an act of presence and reverence. Its slow burn and subtle fragrance invite you to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the moment, making it as much a spiritual ally as a cleansing tool.
Suggested Use
Light the end of the Palo Santo stick and allow it to burn briefly before gently blowing out the flame. Let the smoke drift through your space, around your body, or over your stones to clear and reset energy. Use during meditation, ceremony, or anytime you feel the need to refresh and protect your environment.
Affirmation: I clear my space and welcome calm, grounded energy.
